Beef was and is an important 'claim' ingredient for petfood. With the production of beef meat for human food application there a lot co-products produced. These co-products like meat trimmings, bones, fat & organs can find a sustainable and appreciated application in pet food. IQI cooperates strategically with large beef processors and is developing multiple added value and functional beef based pet food ingredients. As part of OSI-group, IQI can also leverage the extensive supply chain of the OSI-family to ensure that our customers get the beef they need.
Recent research shows that collagen, especially in its so-called hydrolysate form, can prevent the destruction of cartilage through the production of macromolecules and suppression of catabolic enzymes, and that omega-3 long-chain fatty acids combined with collagen peptides can reduce inflammation in the joints – specifically as part of osteoarthritis.
Pure collagen peptides can be supplemented to help improve the skin and coat condition, and reduce mobility problems related to bones and muscles, as well as cartilage. Pure collagen can be extracted from animal skin, bones, cartilage, and connective tissue by a process called chemical and enzymatic hydrolysis. The result is hydrolyzed collagen (collagen peptides), which is often processed into a powder that can be added as a supplement to a pet’s day-to-day food.
Beef collagen peptides are derived from beef skin collagen and produced in an European human grade facility.
EU certified
As confirmed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), all of IQI's imported animal proteins from Europe which comply with EU Regulation 1069/2009, once further processed into petfood in the U.S. are eligible for export from the U.S. to the EU.
