Eggshell membrane (ESM) is an upcycled ingredient, available as a byproduct from breaking eggs on an industrial scale. ESM offers multiple health benefits and is widely applicable in small quantities. The ingredient contains 90% protein, 3% lipids, 2% sugars, and small amounts of minerals such as calcium and magnesium. 472 protein species have been identified in ESMs protein composition.
IQI partners with Eggnovo Spain to deliver Ovopet. Ovopet is an innovative ESM ingredient with a unique biological matrix composed of collagen type I (around 30%), glycosaminoglycan (such as chondroitin and hyaluronic acid around a 6%) and sulphur-bearing amino acids (with a high proportion of methionine and cysteine), among other bio-ingredients. These qualities have led to the consideration of Ovopet as a potential treatment for osteoarthrosis, as shown in various studies.
Ovopet is a safe and highly effective ingredient for relieving pain and reducing joint inflammation. The ingredient is well tolerated as supplement and produces a significant reduction in joint pain symptoms, while improving the physical function. This makes Ovopet an effective and natural raw material for dogs’ joint health, increasing the quality of life of dogs with hip dysplasia.
