IQI focusses on the supply of meat meals and frozen duck of European origin. IQI meets the AAFCO definitions for meat meals and are also able to offer high protein meals and excellent qualities of duck fat preserved with natural anti-oxidants.
IQI was the first mover of duck meal into the pet food market. Ever since, we have mostly sourced duck from European suppliers that meet our IQI quality criteria. All duck suppliers are audited and approved by IQI. Pure duck meal typically has a similar nutritional composition to chicken meal with regard to typical protein, fat and ash levels in the product. It contains more than 60% protein, less than 15% fat and 15 to 20% ash. Compared to chicken though, duck meat is higher in calories, fats, iron, and overall vitamins, while slightly lower in cholesterol and sodium.
EU certified
As confirmed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), all of IQI's imported animal proteins from Europe which comply with EU Regulation 1069/2009, once further processed into petfood in the U.S. are eligible for export from the U.S. to the EU.
