Pork is an important part of the human diet in many European, American, and Asian countries. Although not often serving as a claim ingredient in pet food, it is used in numerous pet food formulations. IQI's sister company OSI is a major producer of pre-cooked bacon in the USA (IA, IL) and in Europe (NL). OSI cooks bacon with strict quality controls, allowing them to supply the world’s most renowned fast-food chains and retailers. During the cooking process, a bacon fat is produced. Bacon is not only a great ‘claim’ ingredient, but also very much appreciated by dogs and cats. As a member of the OSI group, IQI has worked together with OSI to make the bacon fat suitable for applications in premium pet food.
