Turkey is the second largest poultry species used in animal farming. While turkey meat is widely recognized as an important protein source in North America, it is still emerging as a pet food ingredient in Europe. The nutritional profile of turkey is comparable to chicken. Turkey meat is an excellent source of protein and a great natural source of glucosamine, a building block of cartilage tissue. The combination of turkey and sweet potato is especially popular in pet food applications.
IQI’s turkey meat hydrolyzate consists solely of soluble and hydrolyzed proteins. Typically, it has a protein content of more than 90%, making it a powerful protein source for all sorts of pet food applications. About 50% of the protein in turkey consists of collagen and it also contains about 8% chondroitin. The product is notably safe and clean: it is produced at a human-grade facility in Europe and meets the requirements of hypoallergenic diets as all molecules in the product are smaller than 10kDalton. The final product is spray dried and agglomerated for easier handling, packing, and distribution.
