Fiordo Austral and IQI combine forces to supply salmon meal and hydrolysates to the North American pet food market

Fiordo Austral, the global market leader in salmon products, including salmon meal and salmon hydrolysates, for pet food and feed applications, has entered into a partnership with IQI Trusted Petfood Ingredients. The purpose of this partnership is to supply salmon meal and salmon hydrolysates to the North American pet food market. As a trusted business partner, IQI will organize the introduction, sales and marketing of Fiordo Austral’s products to selected North American customers, as well as warehousing and logistics from its logistics hubs in the USA.

Fiordo Austral (formerly Pacific Star and Salmonoil) based in Chile is the world’s biggest producer of salmon products, including salmon meal and salmon hydrolysates, made from pure and fresh-farmed Chilean salmon, including ASC-certified salmon, adhering to the highest international sustainability and quality standards. In certifying the purity of its products, Fiordo Austral works with Norwegian company ORIVO, leader in origin certification of food, feed and nutritional ingredients. Fiordo Austral’s high-quality salmon products are an important source of protein, omega-3 fatty acids and essential nutrients, available in a broad range of specifications to suit a wide variety of even the most unique pet food applications. 

The partnership between Fiordo Austral and IQI to supply salmon products to pet food manufacturers in North America will run for a period of three years, increasing Fiordo Austral’s product supply and distribution in the North American pet food market. Fiordo Austral wants to address pet food manufacturers’ demand for sustainably produced salmon from a transparent supply chain. By maintaining strategic stocks of these products at its own warehouses, IQI will ensure on-time delivery of salmon ingredients throughout North America. IQI started with the introduction of Fiordo Austral’s products in the European pet food market in 2018, resulting in great manufacturers’ acceptance which is growing year on year.
