Turkey is the second largest poultry species used in animal farming. While the meat is widely recognized as an important protein source in North America, it is still emerging as a pet food ingredient in Europe. The nutritional profile of turkey is comparable to chicken. Turkey meat is an excellent source of protein and a great natural source of glucosamine, a building block of cartilage tissue. The combination of turkey and sweet potato is especially popular in pet food applications.
Broth or bone broth is widely regarded as a premium pet food ingredient, mostly for wet recipes. It is also used as a (liquid) topper to pour on extruded kibbles. In human food, broth is famous for being a tasty source of collagen. Turkey bone broth powder is produced by cooking the bones for several hours and defatting the derived soluble proteins. Once it is cooled, the product firms into a jelly-like consistency due to its high gelatin content, which is subsequently spray dried into a broth powder. IQI pure turkey broth is of European origin and produced in a human-grade facility.
