Potato flakes are made from side streams of the human food production industry, which makes them a more sustainable choice as a pet food ingredient. Potato flakes consist of around 70% starch. IQI has over 20 years’ experience with potato flakes and exclusive partnerships with European companies specialized in valorizing potatoes into dry quality ingredients. Potato flakes are produced from industrial starch potatoes or from consumption potatoes at large French fries producers. The off cuts are ground, cooked, mashed, dried on roller dryers, and then ground again for use in pet food as a pre-gelatinized potato starch.
