Oats are widely used in dog foods. Once cooked and served at room temperature, they are relatively easily digested by dogs. Oats provide a good source of dietary fiber as well as a host of micronutrients, including manganese, selenium, vitamin B1, magnesium, and phosphorus. Vitamin B in oats helps maintain a healthy coat, while linoleic acid, which is a type of omega-6 fatty acid, helps maintain the strength of a dog’s skin.
SPC Oat Care is a patented ingredient for dogs and horses based on 100% natural and specially processed oats from Sweden and the Nordic countries, which stimulate the production of protein antisecretory factor (Protein-AF). This endogenous protein in the cells of humans and animals helps regulate the transport of liquid and ions across cell membranes. As such, it improves the recovery and normalization of the body’s liquid balance after hard exercise. A number of case studies on SPC in pet food have also demonstrated reduced incidence of diarrhea and IBD in dogs. No additives are used in the production of SPC Oat Care.
