New online product database classification to inspire innovation and co-creation

At IQI Trusted Petfood Ingredients, we specialize in developing and supplying high-quality pet food ingredients catered to meet market demand. Many of our customers require specific solutions to make front-of-package label claims. As the first in our industry, we have therefore classified our online product database according to label claims rather than products.

Classification to claims

A traditional, product-based classification quickly steers you down the beaten path rather than exploring different, more innovative solutions to meet market trends. For the classification of our new product database, we have selected overarching trends and created the following criteria: flavor, health & wellness, sustainability & welfare, and other claims. The latter sub-divides into a variety of label claims, such as grain-free, high omega-3, improved palatability, non-GMO, or organic. In this way, we aim to inspire our customers with a wider view of possible solutions.

A broad view of solutions

As the next step, we would like to get involved with customers and suppliers more closely and start building a relationship that enables steps to be made towards co-creation and co-development. Through close collaboration with both, we can determine or develop the optimal ingredients that fit the full product scope from an early stage. Besides technical functionality, for example, customers might be looking for an ingredient that also meets their ambitions in other areas, such as specific health aspects, sustainability, or animal welfare.
