CFF GmbH & Co. KG, global industry partner for customer-specific and natural cellulose fibers, and IQI, global partner to the pet food industry, are joining forces to supply purified cellulose powder for pet food applications. Cellulose is an important and versatile functional ingredient in pet food because of its high content of insoluble, non-fermentable dietary fibers. These offer benefits to the health and well-being of pets, such as cats and dogs, and have excellent technical properties to support the pet food production process.
“CFF and IQI are a perfect match because of our shared focus on quality and pure products,” says Geert van der Velden, Innovation Manager at IQI Trusted Petfood Ingredients. “We are greatly looking forward to a long-term partnership with CFF as a reliable supplier with a proven track record and years of experience. The purified cellulose product offered by CFF is outstanding because of its excellent bio-functional and technical properties.”
Important functional ingredient
Dietary fibers are increasingly being recognised as an important functional ingredient in pet food. A healthy diet for cats and dogs contains a mix of both soluble and insoluble, fermentable and non-fermentable dietary fibers. Insoluble, non-fermentable fibers are particularly important for healthy bowel functioning, offer additional advantages, such as weight management and feline hairball control, and have excellent technical properties, such as good water-retention capacity. Of the available fiber sources, purified cellulose powder offers the highest concentration of insoluble, non-fermentable fibers that are perfectly suited for pet food applications.
