Pork is an important part of the human diet in many European, American, and Asian countries. Although not often serving as a claim ingredient in pet food, it is used in many pet food formulations. Of the many different pork-based ingredients available to the pet food industry, IQI focuses on specialty pork-based ingredients for pet food. Programs for pig production pay special attention to animal welfare, which is becoming more and more important to consumers and pet parents.
The processing of pork bone for the production of pure pork collagen peptides also results in a meat protein that offers possibilities as a pet food ingredient. Together with the collagen peptide, which is processed in a European human-grade facility, the meat protein is hydrolyzed just as strongly as the collagen peptide. After spray drying the meat, the pure pork meat hydrolyzate is ready for use in hypo allergenic pet food recipes. Contrary to pork collagen peptides, pure pork meat hydrolyzate is not rich in collagen. It is a meat protein.
EU certified
As confirmed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), all of IQI's imported animal proteins from Europe which comply with EU Regulation 1069/2009, once further processed into petfood in the U.S. are eligible for export from the U.S. to the EU.
