EB15 astaxanthin (algae based)

Pure astaxanthin has become a highly targeted pet food ingredient because of its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The freshwater microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis is the most abundant source of natural astaxanthin biomass. Research shows that astaxanthin contributes to a better immune defense and improved immune response in pets in general. It also stimulates muscle function and recovery specifically in dogs. Senior pets in particular can benefit from astaxanthin as a highly bioactive ingredient.

EB15 astaxanthin (algae based)

Novasta® EB15 is the safest and most studied brand of astaxanthin and is produced by IQI’s partner AstaReal in Sweden. The company cultivates the freshwater microalgae in-house in closed photobioreactors under sterile conditions. This makes it a clean, green, and sustainable source of pure astaxanthin biomass. Encapsulation boosts its resilience against food processing effects, particularly heating, so that it can be incorporated into more ‘open’ formulations (such as pellets, meal mixes, and soft chew treats) with less concern about product stability and quality. Novasta® EB15 can be added to a wide variety of extruded or wet pet food.
