End of year reflection: IQI’s highlights of 2021

December 13 2021 - News

During this holiday season we want to take time to reflect upon the good things we have, like our partnership with you, our suppliers and customers. Thank you for your trust in us this past year. We wish you the happiest of holidays and hope you can put your feet up, because you’ve earned it. Should you require any holiday reading while you’re getting cozy by the fire, we’ve got you covered! Here are IQI’s highlights of 2021.

Vision paper

Want to know how we help pet food manufacturers innovate their products and meet rising demands from pet parents? As partner to the global pet food industry, IQI offers dedicated solutions for the entire process, from global sourcing of ingredients to warehousing, quality checks and product upgrades, logistics and on-time distribution. Reading this vision paper is a bit like seeing inside Santa’s workshop: we provide insight into our working methods, which are dedicated to the ‘first time right’ supply of the ingredients our customers require with the right timing and quality.

Senior pet nutrition

Pets are living longer thanks to higher-quality food and better veterinary care. But there’s more to growing old than just reaching a high age. It’s important to age gracefully; to stay healthy, active and comfortable. Santa knows only too well. Achieving this requires care and attention in selecting the right ingredients for senior pet nutrition. So, what should you pay attention to? Read our white paper on how to select the right ingredients for senior pet food applications.

Looking forward to those winter holiday meals? Have you considered adding sushi to the menu? A seaweed wrapper and sea lettuce on the side aren’t only delicious, they’re healthy too. We believe seaweed will soon become one of the most popular pet food ingredients: it’s sustainable, nutrient-rich and full of prebiotic dietary fibers. But with more than 10,000 species of red, brown and green seaweed to choose from, what should you consider before using seaweed in pet food? Read our white paper to find out.

‘Tis the season to be jolly and what could be jollier than a palatable, sustainable, clean, and high-quality source of omega-3? The essential long-chain omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA are highly beneficial for the health and well-being of cats and dogs. The most efficient and beneficial method to ensure sufficient inclusion levels of DHA and EPA in their diets is by supplying them directly via pet food. Read our white paper on microalgae to discover the specific benefits of certain species of microalgae, which are naturally rich in long-chain omega-3 fatty acid.

White paper taurine

Taurine is an amino sulfonic acid that is essential for the proper functioning of the bodies of mammals, such as cats and dogs. While taurine is widely distributed in animal tissues and therefore plentiful in the diet of true carnivores, the processing of animal-based raw materials into pet food products can result in taurine loss. In IQI’s white paper on taurine as a conditionally essential supplement in pet food, we discuss the many factors to be considered when adding taurine as a supplement.
