Choosing the right omega-3 source to achieve maximum health benefits

Omega-3 fatty acids (ALA, EPA and DHA) offer a range of health benefits for animals, including farmed pigs. To deliver its full functionality, the body must convert ALA into EPA and then DHA – but these can also be taken from food directly. Therefore the choice of omega-3 source is crucial to get the right levels of ALA, EPA and DHA in the final feed. In the latest white paper by Geert van der Velden, IQI’s Innovation Manager, he explains the many health benefits of omega-3s and the crucial relation between omega-3 source and yield of EPA and DHA.
